Apparently this was the first time
a character from a webcomic was
fully adopted by another webcomic.

Aya went on to become one of the
main characters in Catharsis.

Catharsis was a popular comic by Jen Boeke which ran from 2002-2007. It centered on Gwen, a twenty-or-thirty-something woman sharing her apartment with a dragon named Rremly (who most people saw as a dog). There was also a cranky narcoleptic squirrel, a living sock puppet pirate, sentient dust bunnies, and tribal wild cherries. It was very cute.

[UPDATE: The Catharsis site went down several years ago, and I had thought the archive lost until a helpful Nekolyte pointed me to this web archive site, where the archive can be read in its entirety.]
