Finally listened to my own advice and went out and got some brain medicine. Prozac for the depression once a day, Xanax for the anxiety as required. It's only been a couple of days, the main thing I've noticed is my skin's a bit drier than usual and I'm not sure if that's a coincidence or a side-effect. I've stopped defaulting to pointlessly rehearsing half of an argument I never got to have in my brain whenever I'm not thinking of something else though, and doing things seems to be taking much less time than before, so I think the prozac's working like it's supposed to.

Meds @NtKGar: most anti-depressants will leave you dehydrated until you adjust. Surprised you can get them without prescription over there... watch for other side effects such as headaches or shaking, they sometimes take a few days.

@Kat: Oh they're on prescription, you can't get them over the counter here. No shakes or headaches yet.

Happy pills I've been taking them for a long time. The general consensus seems to be they usually don't have side effect. The deal-breaking effect seems to be that they make you feel "different" and some people are wedded to the way they felt before. One of my friends did not like the way they subdued her worrying, because how can you prevent things if you don't worry.
