I'm actually glad the clocks are going back this weekend, I really hate getting up when it's still dark out. I'm tired all the time anyway because I'm in my 30s, but having to get up in the dark makes it worse.

It's weird that everyone I know is tired all the time and it's just accepted as normal. Stupid late capitalist society.

I'm not sure what comes next. With task-specific AI getting better and better, replacing human workers with machines is a cost-effective way to get guaranteed results. While machine intelligence is less adaptable than human intelligence, it's much better at referencing libraries of information, and that's the backbone of a whole slew of professions. Episodes of House would be twelve seconds long. Contract law's going to explode.

Industry is undergoing a paradigm shift and economics is going to have to get its arse in gear to catch up. Ontario Canada is beginning a pilot program with Universal Basic Income in which all citizens are entitled to regularly receive an unconditional sum of money regardless of their existing income. This income is sufficient to get you above the poverty line. I believe it's an honour code thing where it's kind of douchey to claim it if you don't actually need it but it's there for you whenever you DO need it.

It sounds very Canadian, doesn't it?

Anyway we'll have to see how it works out. It'll either implode spectacularly or succeed quietly as the topic of endless unread left-wing blogs.

On an unrelated note, I got the tiny pink hat back on Lunabelle! Innocent smoothies do a promotion every year where the bottles are wearing tiny knitted hats that fit just nice on a kitty's head. It hasn't started yet this year, but I found one of the old hats and am going to try and be-hat as many of the cats as possible.
