That's seven 'Buddies' films and two 'Santa Paws'. I actually haven't seen any of them, which is why we're talking production rather than content here. For all I know every single one is a wagnerian masterpiece.

Today, Cosmo the Quote Bunny is quoting Don Marquis in disagreement with that theory.

Hilarious Ok so I've been stalking this comic for ages (maybe 2 years? maybe more?) love Neko, but am actually pretty entertained by Aleister. This one today I actually erupted with laughter. I would like to know where the link is to the quote bunny first of all, and second, dude, you are really very funny, you should find some way to turn your comedic genius into a very laid back job that allows you not to have to deal with all the crap that bothers you in your life. Also, sounds like you have a really cool girlfriend/wife/SO.

Oh Gar... you are a comedic Genius... I was shocked, I was angry.... then I read the second half, the last pannel with a few too many "a"s in the word haaaappy and I laughed.

Not to ruin your joke, however after the movie Crows from Alfred Hitchcock was aired, they had to kill hundreds of crows who were trained to kill humans. A lawsuite followed and now that's why we can't harm performing animals.

By the way, I wanna give kudos to my buddy Mr. Hitchcock. He took the blunt for many many things we take for granted now a days. Like in Psycho, he got reprimanded for showing a woman on the toilet... shower was fine, but toilet? He also taught us the power of montages where he changed himself from a sweet man to a dirty old man by changing the cutscene from a mother affectionately playing with her child to a woman in a bikini... Ah Alfie, thou shall be missed....

Sorry I went off topic here however this comic reminded me of Mr. Hitchcock and inspired something else.

,-Hopes that Ollie gets equal chances for her Sitting Still with Ollie moments.

@VictorB It wasn't a woman on the toilet that was shocking, it was the toilet it self that was most shocking. As far as I'm concerned that was pointlessly ridiculous. They even had a problem with the adulterous scene at the beginning of the film, but 'Hitch used his skills as a mentalist to worm his way out of that one.

I believe he has a handful of videos on editing that crop up in film studies classes a lot. At least the ones I attended

@TheCatMolloy

Why are you even watching air buddies? Is the problem of movies so bad people are reduced to watching cartoons a global phenomena?

I suppose one could understand Disney's hesitation to create anything new, despite the fact they could easily afford it, yet for some reason consistently disappoint on the writing front because of what seems like contempt for children. In fact, I'd wager ABC Family and Pixar are the few subsidiaries that promote the film makers without that handicap.

And, even one of their employees basically implied that it's better not to work at all, than to produce a single flop because people don't remember the years you're out of commission but they will remember a mistake...

Which, also implies, as long as it makes money they will run it into the ground, but if someone makes a mistake or is unsuccessful they are rarely given a second chance.

So, it's entirely possible that being part of a production like Air Buddies is a punishment. If you can make it marginally successful you are clearly a film making genius on par with that great german film maker Uwe Boll.

My understanding is that working with animals is very difficult and worse than handling children so it is also entirely possible an air buddies production could be a film crew training exercise and the whole crew gets to have a keepsake of their first production. After all, film crews and writers need to be trained otherwise they'll never be able to grow or develop their talents.

I for one love the anti-dog humor in today's understudy

Reply GDA (Guest), November 15th, 2013, 5:16 pm

The first one was okay.
Space buddies was all like, "Nice. Another one."
and by Snow buddies I was all like, "Meh. Seen it."
At least I think that was the order...

Quote Bunny There is also an imgur gallery for previous quotes, don't remember the exact link, but it's linked to in one of the previous Understudies...

Back on topic though, It's like "Air Buddies, Buddies in Space something along those lines... WAY too many of 'em to be sure...

How is it I only recall seeing Air Bud once in 1997 and maybe in passing around 1999, and yet have somehow never come across any of the sequels?

I admittedly stumbled across Pokemon and the land before time sequels through the cartoon network, and I know I watch the Family channel and ABC often enough to have encountered at least one sequel. But, no dice. Don't they still have family movie sunday and the Disney afternoon?

@GabrielsThoughts: out of curriosity, Hitchcock starts with the letterts h-i-t-c-h... so why put the appostrophe at the beginning of his name and not at the end to say Hitch' as in "an' the old boy fell"?

Anyways, Hitchcock didn't charm his way out of it. He payed fines. Just like in most of his movies. But you got to remember that at the time he made films, people were easily offended and whatnot. As the years progress, we become acceptant to things on tv... Think of it... now we have teen pregnency shows that ten years ago would have been banned for indecency. It's practically promoting to hook up and get dumped when you are 15. But now, it's a "hit show".

Reply GabrielsThoughts, November 16th, 2013, 5:30 pm

I put in an apostrophe to identify nicknames as as well as colloquial sentences. Wouldn't have made a difference anyway, I'm not a professional writer nor writing specialist. Although, I do have occasional issues with broken English that is completely unintelligible. [*Obviously not a problem on my end,] In such cases I will do my best to clarify or understand what is being said before checking with the author in a non combative way.

In short, 'Cuz I can. Why do you ask?

As for the second discussion, since it is evident that people cannot follow a discussion trail if there is more than one subject and it makes me look inattentive, I assume the fact that standards and practices are willing to allow teen pregnancy shows since the 80's as first scandalized by pioneering Canadian shows such as "degrassi junior high" and japanese anime. I assume the American Media realized that competing with both hands tied behind their backs was relatively ignorant.

been there mate Hey there... not sure if I've posted here before or not, but been a great fan of Neko, started reading this year and gone through the entire thing.

As for the depression thing, I know what you mean. I've been there myself... pretty badly when I was younger and even today it can raise it's head again from time to time.

As such, I also know the hypocrisy of giving someone with depression all the 'feel good' advice.. all it does is reinforce how you 'should' feel, and make you feel bad that you don't.

All I can say is hang tight and focus on yourself and those closest to you. Those who care about you, will wait as long as you need and support you every step of the way... those who can't, aren't people you want in your life at any time.
