Normally I'm a strong advocate of the scientific method, but sometimes even imagination is too much.

Aleister likes seeing what I'm doing when I'm at the computer. He's actually pretty good about keeping off the keyboard, but he likes getting as close to it as possible without actually sitting on it.

Odd behavioural quirk: when he's on the computer desk he's less claw-happy when you try to rub his belly. Aleister does the classic 'I'm a cute kitty, rub my tummy!' pose pretty frequently, but it's almost always a trap. Ollie likes belly pets and will purr happily when she gets them. Aleister likes belly pets, but will wrestle any hand attempting to deliver them unless he's on the computer desk.

Tried to get a picture of Aleister and Ollie together: will try again later.

Today, Cosmo the Quote Bunny is quoting Benjamin Franklin.

Empirical truth is only half of the scientific method. A claim which can be substantiated by comparing the two. Empirical testing is limited to an analysis of research followed by reporting based on an assumption arrived at by manipulation of extrapolated data. Whereas the scientific method starts with a question leads to a hypothesis (solution, or theory) that requires reflection, research, analysis, testing that involves comparing and contrasting cause and effect relationships between point a and point b before finally reporting. The results obviously need to be verified at least three or more times. Then, it needs to be validated by objective research and at least seven other scientists with no previous affiliation or affinity, repeating the same experiments with few alterations, before the findings can be published in a scientific journal.

As for the Ben Franklin quote, it seems close to the first Carnegie rule. Which makes it odd that the third rule is so childish and often leads a person to be taken advantage of. Then again, many cultures have become more violent since his books were published. Heck, Even Napoleon Hill admitted to having a first person conversation with the devil.

Animals are smart. Maybe Ollie disguises herself as a woman or teenage girl when you're out of the house, and if her feline features are revealed on the internets her ability to change forms will be lost. Think of it, when you aren't around It's entirely possible Ollie looks like Walton Goggins in drag.

I can relate to Paige in regards to the two boys I have.

For me it's hard to say I'm not sure my two boys like belly rubs. I can say though they certainly like chin scratches :)

sorry if this is a topic change, but lately I've been a wee concerned about my boys they have been doing okay but for the last two or three they've not had any body fat.

I have even changed the type of dry cat food I give them to something lest healthy to in hopes it help get their body to produce said fat,They have been looking pretty skinny & thus are sort of unsteady when getting up or walking. :/

thanks for trying @TheCatMolloy, to get your two cats together....

I didn't realize it was difficult to get pictures of cats at all. I just assumed it would work out all three times I've done it. Then again, I haven't done any group or pair shots. Maybe if you screen captured video you'd get a better result. Keep in mind I don't actually own pets. I'm more a temporary station should a friend or neighbor be moving. They usually wind up in the paper after I've invested more than $100 in care and maybe two grooming sessions.

@Agen: Get your cats seen by a vet immediately. It could be just age and maybe they just need fat rich kitten food, or it could be thyroid disease or worse. Either way, there's no harm in taking them for a check up.

@ Paige, I did switch cat foods from Whiskas to Purina

I expect/hope to get them into the Vet on Thursday.

Reply NtKPaige, October 23rd, 2013, 3:31 pm

@Agen: Switching cat foods too suddenly can certainly give them an upset tummy, but shouldn't cause the other stuff. Let us know what the vet says!

So I read Cosmo's saying and I would like to add a similar saying from Dale Carnegie: Chapter 1. Always give sincere compliments, never condemn, criticize or complain (from his book How to Win Friends And Influence People)

You can confront others with the truth if you're prepared to face the consequences.

There is no moral right that advocates slavery or denies one the right to freedom from coercion, undue pressure, and consent informed or otherwise.

There are no unwritten rules when it comes to expressing an opinion either.

There are FUCKLOADS of unwritten rules when it comes to expressing an opinion.
