Paige got me a pair of rollerblades over the weekend! They were €10 at a car boot sale up the road.

I tried them out for the first time yesterday, managed to stand upright and make some awkward shuffling progress forward. There's a walkway that runs along the front of the apartment complex here, and there's a handrail, so that's where I'm practising.

Anyway, I make it up and down the walkway a couple of times, attracting the bemused attention of some of the neighbours as I make my determined-yet-terrified progress (I've had some head and dental injuries). After a couple of trips up and down, the skates start really hurting my feet. I had fastened the straps pretty tight, so I figure that's probably the problem. I've managed to avoid falling over on the concrete so far, so I decide not to push my luck and head inside.

After a few minutes to rest my feet, I decide to try skating up and down the hallway. The hall's carpeted, so I can just practise my movements without worrying about rolling too fast or hurting myself if I fall over. I fasten the skates a little looser than before and start going up and down the hallway.

My form's OK (I think) I'm not falling over and am turning at either end of the hall without falling over, but the skates are really hurting my feet again and I have to stop and take them off once more.

In my haste to remove these painful, crippling devices I've strapped myself into, I pull out the padded lining, and make two important realisations.

1) The lining's not part of the skate! It's a pair of these red booties that are inserted into the skate for comfort.
2) They had been in the wrong skates.

I had determined which skate to put on which foot by looking down into them and seeing which way the sole curved. With the insoles removed, it became apparent that the outer part was curving in the opposite direction to the inner booties. The rollerblades hadn't been pinching the hell out of my feet because I had fastened the straps too tightly, but because I was wearing them on the wrong feet!

Been a while since I've been this low on a learning curve.

I don't generally put wheels on my feet, it never seems to end well for me :/

My last experience with rollerblades ended with a rather smashing bruised ass. I mean literally. Sitting in a chair was painful as heck. After that...well I didn't find it as much fun to try and learn how to adapt to having wheels for feet.

Bathos... I li'totes forgots.

Haha Rollerblades are tricky. They need to be tight around your arch, heel and ankle. also, your feet need to get used to the vibration.

Now on to the comic.... 1. Is that a two tier yellow bus coming? and 2. Wasn't Keno at the buss stop?

Who else hear that sound from Metal Gear when they saw the "!"?

Reply TheCatMolloy, July 10th, 2013, 2:27 am

@VictorB: The colouring of the buses was previously established here http://www.nekothekitty.net/comics/1578386/1027-at-the-bus-stop/

They're based on the Dublin Bus buses.

looks like keno might smoke like father and mother, just guessing

Smoking kitties Keno may smoke after a particularly, pertinent poking in the posterior from Murphy! It would be a great tie in with the enterprise cut away, just quietly floating, sex hiding starship then quietly smoking post coitus kitties. Damn dictionary word a day facebook got me sounding like a pleeb!

Reply LoveMastah, July 10th, 2013, 10:11 am

@VictorB , If I remember correctly, when Keno and Murphy are bored together, they go do their "shenanigans" in the bushes. I could be wrong, though.

Heh, I could only begin to imagine what those two felines were up to in that bush while waiting for someone to start smoking @ the bus stop :)

Bummy? Not sure if I'm just being blind but I see no Bummy in this episode.

Hrm. Archives and presentation comments. I just read through the archives, and I have a couple comments.

First off (and easiest to fix, I think) the fact that there is only one "next comic" button makes it fairly slow. Would be vastly improved by linkifying the comic image itself. That's a fairly common practice amoung webcomics I've read, and makes reading through the archives much easier.

Second, and MORE IMPORTANT: The images are shrunken on the page, which makes the comics quite hard (and in some cases impossible) to read. I worked around it via firefox's "view image" context menu item. Which required opening a new tab for each and every comic.

Fixing this one involves HTML stuff that I'm not familiar enough with to guide you through.

The fact that I STILL read through the archives in spite of these two handicaps goes to show that you have quite an engrossing comic here. I liked it, and may read it often for at least a little while.

to wyozen well, some comics do have next comic linked to the comic itself, I find such things as annoying, my mouse is finicky and ends up sending me forward on such comics before im done with them and makes me waste time by going back to the previous comic a lot. also. there is a next comic button at the top of the comic, and below it, so your usually seeing one or the other by the time your done with it.

as for the having to open a window for the comic. you usually dont have to do that unless its a really big one, since if he let them be at natural size the entire time can throw the sites size out of whack. i'd rather see clicking the comic bring out a popup with the full size version rather than advancing to the next comic.

Edit: also, the clicking the comic does take you to the next comic by the way. since your using firefox if your running noscript. make sure its enabled on this website.

@ WyoZenZuZeX, ever heard of the saying a picture is worth a thousand words?. Well think of this comic with that saying...
