So the art auctions went pretty well! Pictures are in the post for the winners, and I got some Kurt Vonnegut books for my Kindle with the proceeds. Feels good to have art sell :)

The picture above and today's vote incentive (which isn't a Whitespace Neko) are already spoken for, but there'll be more auctions coming up!

FIRST! Time for an advencha! You know, as soon as the bus arrives. Why must your comic remind me of college? That's not whats supposed to happen. X3

EDIT: The vote pic with "profound metaphysical thoughts" actually makes a fantastic desktop image.

Reply someboddy (Guest), July 3rd, 2013, 5:15 pm

Wondering about what Neko is doing is meaningless. Neko never does anything - he just thinks he does.

Reply David9195 (Guest), July 4th, 2013, 8:35 am

LOL THIRD He just sleeps there on top of her face lol.
Also third

Reply VictorB, July 4th, 2013, 9:24 am

Fourth? what? haha I didn't want to break the connection.

I wanted to tell you that I am shocked... Alice has hairy armpits??!?!?! and is SINGLE? Talk about a metaphysical thought!!!!

By the way, I wanted to give you koodos on going from 37? to 17 in such a short time!!!!

Reply NtKGar, July 4th, 2013, 9:56 am

Hair grows there on women and Alice isn't a fastidious person, it just seemed right to give her some armpit hair.

Reply Agen (Guest), July 4th, 2013, 2:01 pm

I'm glad my cat doesn't sleep on my head like that :)

Reply Licourtrix, July 4th, 2013, 4:36 pm

I like to think Alice is a woman who does what I do, nothing gets shaved unless someone I care about is going to see it.

(As for her being single, who else could she find to fill the void left from Jeff's evil marshmallow powered manhood? TIDDLY-DEE!)

Lastly, My kitten recently slept on my face like that. I woke up with a nose full of cat hair.

keno shouldn't be gay COME ON LIKE REALLY KENO SHOULDN'T BE GAY PLEASE MAKE HIM HAVE GIRLFRIEND I MEAN HES CUTE TO HAVE A GIRLFRIEND AND HE SHOULD HAVE ONE BUT NOT A GUY,HE SHOULD BE LIKE HIS FATHER,PLEASE AUTHOR MAKE HIM HAVE A GIRLFRIEND OR MAKE HIM SINGLE.

Reply Morgan (Guest), July 4th, 2013, 10:22 pm

baahahahh XD lmao XD i love you man -hugs all around- keep doing what your doing :)

Reply VictorB, July 5th, 2013, 12:44 am

@sunny leafeon: Why should Keno be straight? In a previous strip, Neko felicitated Keno for figuring out how to have sex without the threat of a balls-less future. Or are you saying that gay guys can't be cute?

@NtGar: Why do you change your profile so much? and thanks for the explanation.

@Licourtrix: Alice knew that it was over way before it ended. And she is an attractive girl... so I find it hard to believe that she wouldn't have had an offer.....

Reply Agen (Guest), July 5th, 2013, 5:12 am

@ sunny leadoen, Please turn of the caps lock. You do NOT need to yet what you are saying, we can read just fine without it...

Btw, yes I did spot the bummie poking it's head in the background.

Reply TheCatMolloy, July 5th, 2013, 6:31 am

@VictorB: I changed my profile to The Cat Molloy because I wanted to distance myself from the 'Gar' character. I'm still logged in as 'NtKGar' on my Android tablet though, and keep forgetting to change it.

@sunny leafeon: Keno's gay, that's just the way he is. It's fine, don't worry about it. He's just a happy little guy who loves adventure and happens to like boy cats more than girl cats when it comes to certain things. He's as sweet and adorable with Murphy as he'd be in a straight relationship, and we cut to an exterior shot of the Enterprise instead of showing sex anyway.

Given that there's no graphic sexual content in this comic, and that a lot of humans can't immediately discern whether a cat is male or female anyway...why do you care?

It's my understanding that there's remarkably little difference between gay and straight relationships beyond the mechanics of interlocking parts. I've never understood the contempt a lot of people seem to have for homosexuals. It's about as well-reasoned as Xbox fanboys hating on Playstation (or vice versa). They're both pretty much the same thing (save for a handful of exclusive titles and different controller layouts), and the happiness of one fandom does absolutely nothing to detract from the happiness of the other. It's a dumb issue that gets trotted out ad nauseum every console generation and it makes me tired just thinking about it.

Of course, the unreasoned rage against homosexuals is much more intense than the constant bickering between console rivals, and comes to violence far too often, but that's more a matter of degree than of type. "You belong to a different group than me! FUCK YOU, COCKWAD!!"

It's called in-group bias and has been part of human nature for a loooong time. It's why there's rivalry between schools, between nations, between religions and races and genders. There's no real reason for it, it's just something that happens.

"Can't we all just get along?" is hardly a new sentiment. I'm hoping for a solid 'yes' to come back in answer any century now. It's why I love Star Trek so much.

Anyway: cats don't give a fuck.

NtK isn't really an 'issues' comic, but we try to present Keno being gay as a non-issue. He lives in a society where his sexual orientation genuinely doesn't matter. It's a curiosity, but that's about it.

Well said..

Reply Licourtrix, July 5th, 2013, 12:52 pm

@TheCatMolloy An excellently handled homophobe!

@VictorB Largely Joking there. I guess maybe Alice just isn't looking for a relationship right now, so she's not in one.

So, lastly, I'd like to think a person who is adamant that NtK shouldn't have homosexuality is missing the point that cats do whatever they fuck they want, all the humans in this comic are as crazy as the cats, and that there was a story arc involving a cock shaped homunculus made from blood from Eli's ass running around. RIP Cockleigh.

But seriously @sunnyleafeon. You're 14. Don't decide you hate gay people or don't want anything to do with them so early in life. Some of them are as big an asshole as a any random straight person, but some of them are the most entertaining, fun to be around people you will ever meet, and if they know you're not gay, they're not going to push it on you.

@ThecatMalloy- Very well said. I have a female calico and my cousin has a male chihuahua and a German Shepard they are happily manage`a trois for each other. I don't know when it started but its there. Humans are the only ones hung up on stuff like gay and straight since animals do it all the time. So Keno being gay would be a non factor in the animal kingdom and as Neko pointed out a wonderful way to keep his junk, only thing that bothers me is Murphy being the top. All his kitty vertebrae must scream.

Reply VictorB, July 5th, 2013, 2:54 pm

With all this talk about homosexuality... how would lesbian cats function? I mean I don't think about cat sex, but they don't have toys to fulfil their needs, and they can't interlock like humans...

I would also like to add the fact that Neither me nor the author are actually gay, which I think is a step forward to his wish.

Reply TheCatMolloy, July 6th, 2013, 2:05 am

My brother's gay and occasionally gets attacked for no other reason than that, so homophobia's one of those things that I take VERY seriously.

Anyway, apology accepted. Just remember people are as gay or straight as nature intended them to be, and there's no should or shouldn't about it :)

Reply PinkPanther (Guest), July 6th, 2013, 12:32 pm

No apology for homophobia should be accepted.

All homophobes should be shot.

Reply TheCatMolloy, July 6th, 2013, 3:01 pm

Apologies should always at least be considered, they're a sign of someone having the guts to question their convictions. If someone who's not entirely comfortable with gayness can decide they enjoy a comic with openly gay characters, that's a much better start than anyone being told they're irredeemable.

“There are plenty of good reasons for fighting...but no good reason to ever hate without reservation, to imagine that God Almighty hates with you, too. Where's evil? It's that large part of every man that wants to hate without limit, that wants to hate with God on its side. It's that part of every man that finds all kinds of ugliness so attractive....it's that part of an imbecile that punishes and vilifies and makes war gladly.”

well, i guess that kindle books... are helpful.

@Pink Panther If one man's speech is heard by a mike on the other side of the coin, does it make the speech any different? I am sorry to say but saying homosexuals should all be shot, is the same as saying "all people who yell at someone else should all be shot"... or "All homophobes should all be shot."

They should all NOT be said

Reply Michaelius (Guest), July 8th, 2013, 2:24 pm

Well Said... @TheCatMolloy, VictorB

You both make very good points. (Although, Victor, I can't quite get "heard by a mike on the other side of the coin") Congratulations, for responding to PinkPanther so well.

Victor is quite right, to say that things like "All homophobes should be shot" shouldn't be said. Sadly, such things will be said; and all we can do is to deal with them as best we can.

Mr. Molloy, too, is quite right: an apology, no matter how loath one may be to do so, *should* always be considered; it *is* a sign that one has the courage to question one's convictions, and to change them if need be.

Such courage is all too rare in this world, and one should encourage it wherever one can.

As for PinkPanther's final solution to the world homophobia menace? It may seduce a few unsound minds, but he would find it unworkable. At the very least, I suspect he would soon run out of bullets. And, of course, such a 'solution' as PinkPanther's would put the LGBT community in a very undesirable position...

My congratulations to SunnyLeafeon, for his decision to go on reading NtK. He'll come to see, as he reads on, that Keno and the rest of the gang are all loveable in their own ways.
