I saw The Hobbit over the weekend. If you're on the fence about seeing it, it's worth it, though there's some interesting discussion going on here as to whether to see it in 48 fps or standard frame rate.

I saw it in IMAX at 48fps and encountered the 'seeing-props-as-props' thing that people have been complaining about. I haven't seen it on a standard screen yet, so I don't know if this 'staged' quality is as apparent on a smaller screen at a standard frame rate. In IMAX it looked like an extremely good BBC production. I didn't stop seeing that throughout the entire movie.

I did, however, warm up to it.

My primary experience of 'The Hobbit' wasn't reading the book, but having it read to me by my father when I was a child. "Seeing the seams" in the movie version was, I found, somewhat evocative of that. It didn't feel like I was in Middle Earth, but it didn't exactly feel like watching a movie. It felt like being told a story, which I think is the experience 'The Hobbit' should be.

I love how happy Neko looks when talking about abusing his son. Kinda want to see that actually happening though xD I can just imagine Keno derping like that...

And I really want to go see The Hobbit... Hopefully this weekend or something.

The Hobbit I saw it in standard projection and didn't get any sense of props as props. The sense I did get was that if you've seen the special effects in the LotR movies and read the book, there is no point in seeing The Hobbit.

Fanart? I felt really inspired this month to make some of my crafts either for or based on comics and other things I like (like a mascot for an online advice columnist I respect), and of course had to include Neko and Keno, since they're my two favorite purrballs from one of my favorite webcomics <3

It's a type of fanart even if it's a craft instead of a picture, right?

Hope you guys like them, I know I really do (not to toot my own horn, I'm just really fond of them) <3 happy holidays!

It's saying the image has been moved or deleted :(

EDIT: It was a formatting issue, there shouldn't be a space between 'copy.png' and the rest of the URL.

Those are cute, the tails came out really well. Doing my little 'yay! fanart!' buttdance in my chair. Thanks Havockitten :D

What's in the bottles?

havox's link It's really weird. the copy.png part of the link was added at the end with a space before it and the rest of the link... if you copy the whole thing and remove the space manually it works.

and I think those are some really neat bottles.

That problem has been happening a lot lately with photo bucket hosting when linked on Smackjeeves. Imageshack.us is much more reliable lately.

Reply Havockitten, December 20th, 2012, 2:59 pm

meep sorry about that. I didn't notice it had a space there. how strange :/ I guess smackjeeves doesn't like me XP

I'm glad you guys like them. I love making things like this for customers, but something about Christmas just made me want to go bananas making them for things I admire. I'm silly that way X3

@Gar It's just liquid. Some people make these with resin or glue so it will harden and thus never leak, but I like it to be able to flow ^.^

That suspicious creepy figure in the last panel is suspicious and creepy.

Keno "I prefer to think of it as an unfair advantage."

Love it! Sweet, modern artwork with actually funny writing. Great job!
