Went to see Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter last night with Paige and a friend of ours. Every bit as silly as the title promises. It achieves this by apparently taking itself entirely seriously, and going heavy on the gore in the fight sequences. Your taste in absurdity may vary, but I find absurd-with-a-straight-face MUCH funnier than absurd-with-a-knowing-wink.

The fights are actually very cool. Monster effects on the vampires are well-designed and there's a real sense of weight when Abe's swinging the axe around.

The fights are really the meat of the film. The dialogue is decent if not especially memorable, but the story is mostly told in action anyway. The whole film is kind of like that - acting is solid throughout without being spectacular, but with the exception of some dodgy CGI horses, everything is good enough that you don't get pulled out of the story. It moves you along to the next bit with Abraham Lincoln kicking vampire arse. The main set piece fight sequence features a fully bearded Honest Abe and takes up the majority of the film's third act. It's what I wanted to see, and I was well satisfied with what they showed me.

That's it in a nutshell really. It was the film I wanted it to be. If you like the title, you'll probably like the movie.

As for historical accuracy and educational value: the film's called 'Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter'. What do YOU think?

Abraham Lincon: Vampire Hunter I couldn't get past the absurdity of the title alone, but if it's decent I might watch it if it ever comes on tv.

I'm waiting for it to come out on TV as well. It looks about as bad as the Darren Shan movie.

vampire hunter some guy was arguing about how historically accurate the movie was and my whole family and i kinda just looked at eachother and then him like he was nuts, i liked how they created the vampires and how you could tell they were a vamp when they were mad like the eyes and such, and yea the CGI horses werent that great but it'd piss off a LOT of people if animals even really well made animals were hurt like they were...ps the female villian was hot XD

Wild guess I'm just gonna throw it out there that my guess is that there will be a twist in the end of the film, possibly involving john wilkes booth

@Vortigaunt Booth was a confederate vampire? This explains so much. Tell me, was he played by David Boreanez? Because if that's the case I want to see the movie. It's fanfiction fuel at its finest.
