Wow, there is so much wrongness just in the art of this episode. . .I'm afraid all I can say is, well, I'll let Mr. George "I-am-utterly-epic" Takei say it for me.
@Geckillin: comic irony, my one weakness...how did you know??
There's a spot-the-continuity-errors game in this one as well!
@Oisin: It actually *does* make sense in the context of the comic. Granted, that's not the kind of sense things that make sense make, but 'tis all in good fun.
Tarquin has shifted position a bit, he was infront of the door now hes off to the side (did she open it that hard?) the key similarly should've been where tarquin was off to the side of the open door, but its directly in front. The design of the window has also changed. but being this anal about a comic that I read for the purposes of side splitting laughter hurts.
@Licourtrix: Heh, those weren't even the deliberate ones :P
Spot-the-continuity-error isn't a game everyone likes to play. It's just one of those things we started putting in because it makes people feel smart. Truth be told it's been there ever since I started drawing backgrounds and is likely to be there, intentionally or not, in virtually every reasonably-detailed comic out there. We just embrace it here because accepting chaos is part of the NtK ethos.
Most of the time the mistakes are just mistakes and most readers will never notice them. Most people aren't perfectionists and a bunch of small inconsistencies in the background detail won't be enough to pull them out of the comic, so no harm done.
However, it's the internet and people like to nitpick. Most of the audience isn't going to notice or care either way, and the ones who DO care get to feel clever for noticing. Spot-the-continuity-error is satisfying for people who find that kind of thing satisfying, unobtrusive for people who don't care, and going along with it as a Thing gives us a nice wipe-clean Troll shield in case someone starts being an asshole about it. (Fortunately, the NtK community has yet to contain anyone I'd identify as a straight-up asshole.)
So that's why there's a strip somewhere in the archive where McJefferstein's hat says "Continuity Error" instead of "McJ". It's part self-deprecating humour, part covering-my-own-ass, part added layer of interactivity for the tiny fraction of the audience that likes to obsess over minutiae. I like it when everybody wins.
Aha!
Seeing as Tarquin not only respawns in the cafeteria, has the properties of a troll, and leaves a key behind, I believe he is the boss of the labyrinth! Or related in some way. Perhaps they need to get the key to the labyrinth?

Personally I'd blame Neko for the leg. or Murphy.

Wait, three.
