I am exuding slime today. Not in a happy kind of way, it's more throat-and-nostril based. It's made my voice extra rumbly, so I sound more like Jean-Luc Picard than usual, but on balance I'd rather have my snot levels return to their default.

So with Gar exuding slime in copious amounts, it seemed like a good time to have my first go at taking over the colouring. Not bad, if I say so myself :P But yes Gar, while the blech makes your voice extra sexy, I am looking forward to a return to your non-exuding form. ;-)

Aaawww, she still cares for him how adorable...On the plus side, they killed a random Bummy that appeared, great job, here is your reward, A NAP!

Bummy die a lot, there's an unlimited supply of them :)

@Pie: I like Bummy. I like the find Bummy game. I would like the home version. Go Bummy!
, 19 Oct 2011 06:34 pm
@paige: Did you draw it too? The art is a little different than usual. Pretty good though! ^^ P.S. Yay, naps!

Congrats on being the new co writer Paige!
And apparently congrats on your engament! Yay! Hope it was a good proposal and a super happy future for you two!

: Nup. The art is a little simplified for this mini-adventure, but the lines are all Gar :)
@Rae: Many thanks on both accounts. It's actually a funny story that culminates first in neither of us proposing, but realising we were engaged anyway, then both of us proposing. It's been an adventure, but sure now we both have rings of power. Ting!:P

: I did the line art, Paige did the colouring. The character designs are a little simplified on account of the small panels - it's a design choice :)
@Rae: The proposal was lovely. Paige was my unexpectedly awesome surprise for this year. Neither of us were expecting or looking for anything serious when we started seeing each other, and I guess it's true what they say about love: you find it once you stop looking for it.
We started out as friends, and that's really how we're continuing. We talk and are honest, I don't worry that my opinions are wrong, I'm not playing the Perfect Boyfriend character that made me feel so trapped in my previous relationships. We're extremely weird, rather lazy, somewhat flatulent people and don't have to pretend to be anything else for each other: it's great!
Anyway, we've been watching Star Trek: The Next Generation lately. There's an episode in Season 3 featuring Spock's father, Sarek. Sarek is negotiating a treaty with some aliens on board the Enterprise, but is suffering from a Vulcan disease that causes him to lose control of his emotions. Picard mind-melds with Sarek to lend him the self-control he needs to finish the negotiations. There's a scene of Sarek adopting Patrick Stewart's speech pattern and mannerisms, and then it cuts to Picard as he experiences Sarek's emotions. It's a powerful scene, but there's one bit which really stood out to me: Picard screams out to Spock and Sarek's wife (whose name eludes me at the moment) that he loves them, that he's always loved them. He's trying not to, though. He's trying to maintain his composure.
I'm a bit like that.
I prize rationality and try not to let my feelings sway my judgement, but I have a depth of emotion which I don't often express, or even really allow myself to feel all that often. You've really got to know it's there to know it's there.
Anyway, I used the narrative example to tell Paige how deeply I love her. I'm not always the most romantic guy. I can be quite detatched and coldly rational, but that doesn't mean there isn't a depth and sincerity of emotion there.
She gets it.
So we came around to a conversation that a couple of our readers here may have had themselves at some point: "I'd say yes if you proposed".
Now, I wasn't ready to propose. We've been together less than a year, it's too soon, what will my friends think? It sure looks like it's going that way, but it's too soon to ask the question.
But...I'd say yes if YOU proposed.
She wasn't ready to ask either.
So we left it at that and went to sleep.
The next day we were going out to dinner at a japanese restaurant in town, and the conversation came up again. Having slept on it, I had come to the conclusion that, without either of us asking, both of us had said 'yes'. We were, in theory, engaged.
And that's when she pulled out the ring she had bought for me that afternoon.
I can't even come close to describing how I felt in that moment. My heart was electric, my fingers the slender tentacles of God. It was an epiphany of pure joy.
It was a definite and emphatic 'Yes'.

I would resent the "flatulent" comment if I could-but it's true, no one can out burp me >_<
