I'm looking after some cats this week while their owner is away on holiday. My roommates said it was OK, so now there's two eight-month-old black kitties currently napping on my bed. One of them's curled up on a wireless keyboard, which fortunately isn't connected at the moment.

The ones I'm looking after are a male and a female(77777741111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111110000000 0000000000000000000000000966666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666 6666666666666666666666666666666666666[''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' '''''''''''''''''''''

The male (Alestair) just decided to climb into my lap and then across the keyboard to get to a pack of treats I had left beside the monitor.

I've had them since Friday. The female (Ollie) was originally very shy, but is now really friendly and purrs like a jet engine when petted. Alestair comes up and purrs too, but he's hissed at me a couple of times for no apparent reason, and he peed in the hallway today. They're litter trained, but not when the litter's covered. Anyone have any tips on how to get cats to start using a covered litter? We just put my old cat outside, so I don't know about litter training.

Also; what's the best way to get rid of that cat pee smell?

Have fun with the kitties Gar! We got 2 male cats (brothers) as well, but those are practically numb-nuts, both of them. You are able to do nearly anything with them, they don't mind.

Strangely, our cats are so well litter trained, they are ONLY peeing in the litter box. That said: They don't pee outside, they always come back in just to pee and shit, and we have a little wood right behind our house. Nobody would mind if they would do their business outside, but nooo, they're just TOO well trained it seems XD

We already had 9 male cats (7 of them are dead by now), and I don't know, but maybe it would help to just put them into the litter box and see if they like it? Our second cat had fun to claim the box for himself once we put him inside, it was like his little fort XD

it took me a second to realize that ~e/d was tiddlee dee

NtKGar, 26 Apr 2011 02:58 am

@Sailoryue: The ~ symbol is called a tilde, and according to one of Keith's math professors, the function assigned to the tilde is known as "twiddling", and it does...something. I originally had it written out ~E/D, but Keith said change it to a lower-case e, that way it's formulated like a...thing.

I don't really 'get' math jokes

It's meant to be a pressed ham, but I just love the company name 'Bumco' :D

Well, in fairness I did ask you're roommates if they would be cool if the kids stayed with you for a couple of days, so if Al peed in the hallway they just have to deal with it! :P

Besides, they seem to have the hang of the whole thing now.
